Welcome Bobcats!
Dear Parents and Guardians of the LWIS Campus Community,
I’m very pleased to be able to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year here at Lucille Whitehead Intermediate School (LWIS)! As your principal, I am “all in” on providing you with clear and consistent communication, earning your trust as your educational leader, and ensuring a safe and structured environment where all students can learn and thrive!
Our school’s mission is to ensure that our students become:
Critical thinkers
Responsible citizens
Masters of their grade-level standards; and are prepared to be successful in their next grade level
Our caring and dedicated faculty and staff believe that:
A positive, safe, and orderly school environment lays the foundation for success
Effective instruction promotes learning
Content standards provide guidance for our lessons
Teachers provide inspiration for learning
We welcome parents and community members to partner with us to make this an amazing school year! We’ll also be seeking involvement through our Parent Teacher Association (PTA), School Site Council (SSC), and English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC). I invite you to review our school website for more in-depth information and also peruse our 2023-2024 LWIS Student Handbook that outlines tips on how to help your student(s) be successful. We use ClassDojo to provide classroom and schoolwide news alerts to our LWIS families. We will also be boosting our social media presence this year via Facebook and Instagram to highlight many of the great things happening here on our campus. LW-IS a great place for students! Please contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Ryan Smith, Principal
